The Town of Cicero commemorated Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, 2024, with a ceremony at Cicero Plaza honoring veterans who sacrificed their lives for the country. The event was co-sponsored by Town President Larry Dominick and Mario Castaneda of State Farm Insurance.
The commemoration included performances by Grupo Clave 312 and a salute from the Chicago and Cicero Fire Departments Honor Guard, as well as participation from the Cicero and Chicago Police Departments. Grammy-nominated singer Isabel Marie presented the National Anthem. Following the ceremony, attendees were invited to a free buffet dinner at the Cicero Community Center.
Additional sponsors for the event included Sayulita, Atotonilco, Carstar, American Legion Cicero Post 96, Firestone, Aaron Tee, Unlimited Fire Restoration, and Cicero Landscape. This year's event marked the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landing during World War II.
