Chad Koppie, a well-known figure in the local conservative movement and candidate for the Illinois 7th Congressional District, has successfully filed petitions without any objections. As the only Republican contender in the race, Koppie is positioned to become the official nominee in the forthcoming November elections.

“I filed petitions, and no one filed an objection. I’m the only Republican, in that race, so I’ll be the nominee, next Nov.,” Koppie said on Facebook.

WTTW highlighted the official beginning of the 2024 election cycle in Illinois which began on Monday, Nov. 27. The March 19 primary holds significance for Illinois voters as it involves choosing local representatives and participating in the nomination process for presidential candidates from both Democratic and Republican parties. This primary will also determine who will represent Illinois at party conventions scheduled for August. The general election is slated for Nov. 5, 2024.

According to Ballotpedia, voters will cast their votes for U.S. House, State Senate, and State House positions along with referendum items, State Supreme Court justices, appellate court justices, school boards and municipal government during this election.

According to his campaign website, Koppie has consistently criticized what he sees as an expanding size and power of federal government riddled with corruption. He emphasizes his commitment to conservative values throughout his campaign. His background as a lifelong farmer and retired jumbo jet Captain from Delta Airlines provides him with a unique perspective on political matters. His past roles include service on the Kane County Regional Board of Schools as a township trustee and on the local school board.

The current representative of the 7th Congressional District is U.S. Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-Ill.). Earlier this year Davis voted against establishing a United States House Judiciary Select Subcommittee aimed at investigating censorship of truthful information on social media platforms - referred to as "The Censorship Industrial Complex." This vote coincided with the release of the Twitter Files, which exposed a government-led censorship campaign and involvement of intelligence agencies in suppressing information, particularly concerning the origin of Covid and vaccines, as reported by West Cook News.

Davis' website provides details about the areas covered by Illinois’ 7th Congressional District. These include much of the West Side of Chicago and suburban communities such as Bellwood, Berkeley, Broadview, Forest Park, Hillside, La Grange, Maywood, Oak Brook, Oak Park, River Forest and Westchester.
