A “Rainbow Celebration” is being planned for Oak Park and River Forest High School.

The celebration comes at a time when many parents have been seeking to opt their children out of discussions about LGBTQ+ inclusivity and Pride activities in schools.

“Mark your calendars! You do not want to miss the Rainbow Celebration for LGBTQ+ students and families on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 6:30 - 8pm. Dinner! Entertainment! Resources! Games! Giveaways! OH MY!” Oak Park and River Forest High School said on Facebook.

Oak Park and River Forest High School is set to host the Rainbow Celebration on Oct. 5, 2023, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the South Cafeteria.

The Rainbow Celebration will feature a range of activities, including dinner, entertainment, and a keynote speaker.

Attendees can also explore valuable school and community resources, participate in Rainbow Games, and enjoy various giveaways. A Rainbow Selfie Station will be available for capturing "memorable moments."

The Federalist recently posted a story noting students can opt out of public school Pride activities, which many parents find objectionable.

Critics have shared concerns about the promotion of LGBTQ+ pride activities in schools, particularly during “Pride Month.”

Instances of “gender indoctrination” have been highlighted even with children with intellectual disabilities, such as Down syndrome.

Some parents have expressed the need to opt out and inform schools of their objections to these activities.

Calling the issue a “golden rainbow horde” influencing American schools, the Federalist has suggested parents should take action and opt out of such activities to protect their children.

Texas recently discussed outlawing such sexually oriented celebrations at public schools, according to KXAN.

The Texas House discussed a bill that could impose fines of up to $10,000 on teachers and school officials for celebrating or providing special instruction on sexual preference, including events like "Gay Pride" Week.

The bill also called for the revocation or suspension of a teaching certificate if educators violate the proposed law, sparking debates about its potential impact on LGBTQ+ inclusivity and education.
