Village of Franklin Park Fire & Police Commission met July 17
Here are the minutes provided by the commission:
Call to order: The meeting for the Fire & Police Commission was called to order by Commissioner Maritza Souchet at 6: 00 pm.
Roll Call / Quorum: Present is Commissioner Maritza Souchet, Commissioner Irene Herrera, Commissioner Guillermo Rios and Secretary Dinorah Rangel. Also in attendance are Director of Police Mike Witz, Fire Chief Mark Stewart, and Trustee Bill Ruhl.
Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the June 5, 2023 meeting minutes was made by Commissioner Souchet and seconded by Commissioner Herrera. Motion passed.
Communications:
Fire Chief Stewart:. The Fire Department will begin Lieutenant Testing with Letters of Intent and Orientation taking place in August. We will use COPS/FIRE for testing. Asked Commission to go into executive session to discuss candidates.
Director of Police Witz: Commander Bob Jensen will be retiring in April, 2024, with 30 years of service. Melissa Figueroa was sent for medical and if she passes, she will be sent for her power test. Once she passes the power test she will move on to the academy. COPS/ FIRE need to be contacted for new test dates for new applicants. The Police department has been recognized for the 2nd year in a row as the number one DUI enforcement agency in the state per capita and number five in the state as a whole.
Trustee Ruhl: Congratulated the First Responders on how they handle difficult situations. Unfinished Business: None
New Business: Motion made by Commissioner Souchet to go into executive session at 6: 04, seconded by Commissioner Herrera, all in favor. Motion to come out of executive session made by Commissioner Souchet at 6: 22, seconded by Commissioner Herrera, all in favor.

Adjournment: Motion to adjourn at 6: pm made by Commissioner Souchet and seconded by Commissioner Herrera with all in favor.
