City of Countryside Flagg Creek Golf Course Administrative Board met July 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

I. CALL TO ORDER.  

The Flagg Creek Administrative Board Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. 

II. ROLL CALL.  

Present:  

John Finn, Chairman 

Michael Natale, Board Member 

Tom Frohlich, Board Member 

Frank Urban, Board Member 

Also Present:  

Dave Schutter, Finance Director 

Patrick Jeter, Golf Course General Manager 

Absent:  

Kevin Dahill, Board Member 

III. ADDITIONS/CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA.  

None. 

IV. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC.  

None. 

V. CONSENT AGENDA.  

A. Approval of the Regular Meeting Minutes from June 21, 2023. 

B. Review of the Paid Bills Report for the Period of June 1 - 30, 2023. 

C. Ratify Donation Requests for July, 2023. 

Member Natale made a motion to approve the Regular Meeting minutes from June 21, 2023, the Paid Bills Report for the period of June 1 - 30, 2023, and to ratify donation requests for July, 2023, under the consent agenda. Motion was seconded by Member Frohlich.  

The motion carried by the following vote:  

Aye: 4 Chairman Finn, Member Frohlich, Member Natale, and Member Urban. 

Nay: 0 

Absent: 1 Member Dahill 

VI. NEW BUSINESS  

A. Rounds Report for June, 2023.  

Golf Course General Manager Jeter stated that in June we had 7,915 rounds of golf played.

B. Presentation of the Financial Report for the period ended June 30, 2023.  

Finance Director Schutter stated that YTD green/league fees exceeded the prior year and budget by $53K and $50K respectively. Range revenues exceeded the prior year and budget by just over $23K and $24K in the first two months of the fiscal year. Concession revenues exceeded the prior year and budget by $20K and $23K respectively. Total revenues for the course exceeded the prior year and budget by $119K and $126K respectively. 

Net income from concessions exceeded the prior year and budget by $13K and $10K respectively while running a net margin of 57% of sales. Total personnel costs as a percentage of revenue are running at about 24% in the first two months. 

No capital outlays were incurred in the first two months. 

The golf course is showing a surplus of $332K versus a surplus of $269K in the prior year and a year to date budgeted surplus of $267K. 

Member Natale asked that since the revenue for the video gaming is so low can we use the floor space for something else. 

Finance Director Schutter stated that video gaming receipts come in at about $14,000 annually with no obligation to the course to maintain. 

Member Frohlich asked if we had any large expenditures coming up this year. 

Golf Course General Manager Jeter stated that we will be buying the greens mower, six golf carts, and the beverage cart. 

C. Consideration to enter into a contract with ANR Construction in the amount of $11,928.00 to repair and restore the Club House Deck.  

Golf Course General Manager Jeter stated that he received a few different quotes and ANR Construction was in the middle of all the quotes although it contained the preferred scope. We are going to replace the railings, fix some of the spindles that are loose, power wash the and stain the railings, facia and lattice. 

Member Natale made a motion to enter into a contract with ANR Construction in the amount of $11,928.00 to repair and restore the Club House Deck, motion was seconded by Member Frohlich.

Nay: 0 

Absent: 1 Member Dahill

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Member Frohlich and seconded by Member Urban. The motion carried by the following vote:  

Aye: 4 Chairman Finn, Member Frohlich, Member Natale, and Member Urban, 

Nay: 0 

Absent: 1 Member Dahill 

Member Finn declared the meeting adjourned at 6:14 PM.
