City of Northlake City Council met May 15

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on May 1, 2023. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on May 1, 2023; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON MAY 1, 2023 CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Urbina. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

ABSENT: ALDERMAN FELDMANN

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to award the Bid for 22 Residential Lead Service Line Replacements to Bongi Construction Corp. in the amount of $92,400.00; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, URBINA, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

ABSENT: ALDERMAN FELDMANN

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO AWARD THE BID FOR 22 RESIDENTIAL LEAD SERVICE LINE REPLACEMENTS TO BONGI CONSTRUCTION CORP. IN THE

AMOUNT OF $92,400.00 CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the 2024 Infrastructure Program: : 1) Resurface Prater from Whitehall to Palmer; 2) Complete lighting on west side of Wolf-Palmer to Fullerton, Cemetery to Diversey; 3) New water main south side of North Avenue, Wolf to Roy; 4) Misc. water main work, Lavergne and North Avenue, LaPorte between Medill and Fullerton; 5) Replace between 75-100 lead water services – Belle Drive, North Caryl. No. Marilyn, Charles, Edward, William, and Country Club; seconded by Alderman Straube. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE THE 2024 INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM CARRIED

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to approve Ordinance O-08-2023; an Ordinance Proposing the Establishment of Special Service Area No. 2 by the City of Northlake for the Condominium Building Located at 16 King Arthur Drive, and Providing for a Public Hearing and Other Procedures in Connection Herewith; seconded by Alderman Patti. That Public Hearing will take place at the July 17th City Council Meeting. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE ORDINANCE O-08-2023; AN ORDINANCE PROPOSING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SPECIAL SERVICE AREA NO. 2 BY THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE FOR THE CONDOMINIUM BUILDING LOCATED AT 16 KING ARTHUR DRIVE, AND PROVIDING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING AND OTHER PROCEDURES IN CONNECTION HEREWITH CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin noted there will be an Improv Show at City Hall on June 9th; details will be in the next newsletter. Next month there is only one meeting on June 12th. Alderman Patti noted Chuy Garcia sent a representative of his office to the last Youth Commission meeting and they are going to help solicit volunteers for Boofest etc.

A long-time resident asked for school zone signs and speed bumps on his block. Mayor Sherwin stated the police department would look into both issues.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
