Stars Win in the 9th

The Dominican University baseball team hosted North Park University on Sunday.

Results:
NPU: 6
DU: 7

How it Happened:
-The Stars fell behind in the top of the first and allowed a run to be walked in.
-NPU then added to their lead with a run scoring on a wild pitch and a run scoring on a sacrafice fly.
-Dominican trailed 3-0 after three innings.
-The Stars got on the board in the fourth inning when junior Matt Galdi ripped an RBI single.
-The offense for NPU responded with a fourth run scoring in the top of the fifth.
-Dominican responded immediately with a 2-RBI single from sophomore CJ Kalekas.
-DU wasn't done there as Galdi drove him two more runs and the Stars took a 5-4 lead going into the sixth inning.
-NPU scored two runs after a short weather delay to regain the lead 6-5.
-Then in the bottom of the ninth, Dominican saw two runs score on two separate passed balls.
-The Stars walked off winners 7-6.

Shining Stars:
-Galdi drove in 3 of the team's 7 runs with 2 singles.
-Junior Grayson Downing notched a team-high 4 hits and scored 2 runs.
-Sophomore Ethan Shepherd did a nice job out of the bullpen with 4.1 innings pitched, 3 strikeouts, and only 1 earned run scoring.

IP: Shepherd (4.1)
Ks: Young and Shepherd (3)

What's Next:
The Dominican University baseball team is back in action on Saturday for their first conference matchup of the season against Marian. That will be a doubleheader starting at 12:00 PM.
