Stars Walk-Off Winners and Extend Streak to Eight

The Dominican University softball team continued their spring break trip on Tuesday.

The Stars took on Penn State Behrend in the first game and Russell Sage in the second.

Game 1 Results:
PSB: 4
Dominican: 5

How it Happened:
-Dominican had to come from behind as they fell down 3-0 in the first two innings.
-DU got on the board in the third inning. It was an RBI single from junior Makayla Barnes that got the scoring started.
-Dominican trailed 3-1 after three innings.
-Freshman Riley Davis gave the Stars the lead with one swing of the bat in the fourth inning with a three-run homer.
-DU couldn't hold onto the lead and PSB tied it up in the sixth.
-The Stars then walked off a winner with an RBI double from senior Kailey Kirkwood in extra innings.

Shining Stars:
-Davis was the offensive star with her home run and 3-RBI performance.
-Kirkwood also added two hits and an RBI including the game-winning double.
-Junior Kayla Faber-Cournane continued to pitch well as she earned the win going 6 innings and allowing just 4 hits with 9 strikeouts.

Game 2 Results:
Dominican: 5
RSC: 3

How it Happened:
-This time it was the Stars that got on the board first. It took until the fourth inning, but a 2-run hit from junior Delaney McRiley gave Dominican the lead.
-DU added another run in the inning and led 3-0 after four.
-Dominican then added to their lead in the sixth. McRiley added another RBI and scored a run.
-The Stars led 5-0 after six innings.
-DU struggled a bit to close the door and had to call for Faber-Cournane to come in for the save. The Stars allowed 3 runs to score in the seventh but still got the win.

Shining Stars:
-McRiley drove in over half the team's runs and had 2 hits.
-Junior Theresa Wilsterman was the only other Star with a multihit performance.
-Senior Geneva Pollman had another strong outing going 6.2 and earning the win.
