City of Northlake City Council met Jan. 9

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: Alderman Straube

Alderman Feldmann

Alderman Contreras

Alderman Garcia

Alderman Johnson

Alderman Urbina

Alderman Grochowski

Alderman Patti

OTHERS PRESENT:

Ken Beres, Chief of Police

Carol Lampard, Finance Director

Tony Faciano, Superintendent Public Works

Mark Sterk, City Attorney

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on December 19, 2022. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on December 19, 2022; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 19, 2022 CARRIED

The new owner of Pollo Vagabundo made a request for a beer and wine liquor license for Fridays and Saturdays until 12:00 midnight.

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Straube, Feldmann, Contreras, Garcia, Johnson, Urbina, Grochowski And Patti

NAYS: None

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Alderman Feldmann will be heading the chicken advisory committee along with Aldermen Contreras and Urbina. They are attempting to set up a first meeting for the last week in January, which will be open to the public. The Youth Commission will have Bingo at their meeting on Wednesday. January and February both will have only one City Council meeting. Regular schedule resumes in March.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance O-01-2023; An Ordinance Establishing Refuse Disposal Fees for Condominium Buildings; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

NAYS: None

MOTION TO APPROVE ORDINANCE O-01-2023; AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING REFUSE DISPOSAL FEES FOR CONDOMINIUM BUILDINGS CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the Second Amendment to Agreement Between the City of Northlake and Lakeshore Recycling Systems; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Straube, Feldmann, Contreras, Garcia, Johnson, Urbina, Grochowski And Patti

NAYS: None

MOTION TO APPROVE THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE AND LAKESHORE RECYCLING SYSTEMS CARRIED

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to approve Resolution R-01-2023; A Resolution Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement Between the City of Northlake and Leyden Community High School District No. 212 Providing for the Placement of an Automatic License Plate Reader on School District Property; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

NAYS: None

MOTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R-01-2023; A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE AND LEYDEN COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 212 PROVIDING FOR THE PLACEMENT OF AN AUTOMATIC LICENSE PLATE READER ON SCHOOL DISTRICT PROPERTY CARRIED

A resident came forward with concerns about the condition of a home and its yard on 44th Avenue that was damaged from a fire over year ago. Code Enforcement will be asked to start monitoring the property.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.

MOTION TO ADJOURN CARRIED
