City of Northlake City Council met July 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: Alderman Straube

Alderman Feldmann

Alderman Johnson

Alderman Gonzalez

Alderman Grochowski

Alderman Patti

PRESENT VIA CONFERENCE BRIDGE: Alderman Contreras

Alderman Garcia

OTHERS PRESENT: Ken Beres, Chief Of Police

Tony Faciano, Superintendent Public Works

Carol Lampard, Finance Director

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on June 13, 2022. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on June 13, 2022; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor. The motion carried.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON JUNE 13, 2022 CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call: Aldermen Straube, Feldmann, Contreras, Garcia, Johnson, Gonzalez, Grochowski And Patti

Nays: None

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

There was a discussion regarding next year’s date for Community Days; a discussion regarding obtaining a new sign for the Doyle Detention Basin when area construction is complete; and a discussion regarding local fireworks.

Alderman Patti made a motion to refer to the City of Northlake Zoning Board of Appeals and Plan Commission a request by Jesus Rosales for a variance in an I-1 Limited Industrial District at 60 W. Lake St., currently a carwash, to an event venue/banquet hall; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO REFER TO THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS AND PLAN COMMISSION A REQUEST BY JESUS ROSALES FOR A VARIANCE IN AN I-1 LIMITED INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT AT 60 W. LAKE ST., CURRENTLY A CARWASH, TO AN EVENT VENUE/BANQUET HALL CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the 2022/2023 Blue Cross Blue Shield/Met Life Group Benefits Renewal; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE THE 2022/2023 BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD/MET LIFE GROUP BENEFITS RENEWAL CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the Easement Agreement for Railroad Avenue Detention Basin with Aligned; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE THE EASEMENT AGREEMENT FOR RAILROAD AVENUE DETENTION BASIN WITH ALIGNED CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve $5,000.00 subsidy to Leyden Family Services; seconded by Alderman Gonzalez. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE $5,000.00 SUBSIDY TO LEYDEN FAMILY SERVICES CARRIED

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to award the bid for Fullerton Avenue Resurfacing Project to Schroeder Asphalt Services in the amount of $384,176.10; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO AWARD THE BID FOR FULLERTON AVENUE RESURFACING PROJECT TO SCHROEDER ASPHALT SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $384,176.10 CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to award the bid for Grand Avenue Water Main Project to Martam Construction Inc. in the amount of $2,374,155.00; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO AWARD THE BID FOR GRAND AVENUE WATER MAIN PROJECT TO MARTAM CONSTRUCTION INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,374,155.00 CARRIED

A resident came forward to inquire about keeping chickens in the backyard.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
