The Morton College Board of Trustees unanimously accepted the resignation of Dr. Stan Fields after seven years of serving in the role. His resignation is effective November 18, 2023.
In announcing his resignation, Dr. Fields thanks the board for the opportunity to serve as President of Morton College. He calls it a “highlight of his long career in education to work with such a dedicated and talented team of faculty and staff to further the college’s mission.”
Dr. Fields believes Morton College is a stronger institution today as a result of the transformative capital improvements of the past seven years that have modernized the campus and supported the addition of new academic programs.
The college is well positioned to enter the second century of serving the educational needs of Community College District 527 in 2024, and his goal in informing the board now of his resignation was to ensure a smooth transition of leadership and to provide the institution with as much as time as possible to prepare.
Morton College remains committed to its mission of enhancing the quality of life of our diverse community through exemplary teaching and learning opportunities, community service, and life-long learning.
