NACC Announces Updated Visual Identity, Website

The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) is pleased to reveal a new visual identity and logo in advance of the 2022-2023 academic year.

The announcement is the culmination of a year-long collaboration with Joe Bosack of Joe Bosack & Co. to give the conference a streamlined, updated look. It is the first time the conference has introduced new marks since adopting its current moniker in 2013.

"We are proud to present this new identity for the NACC," stated NACC Commissioner Jeff Ligney. "The new look is a credit to a successful partnership with Joe Bosack & Co. as well as valued feedback from various NACC constituents."

The central "ICON" mark scales back many of the more ornate details in the previous logo, leaving a wordmark that conveys strength and resiliency. The "A" is represented by a North-facing compass point, a nod to the compass rose at the heart of its predecessor's design. North, as a direction, has come to represent progress, betterment, and inspiration. The color palette for the entire suite of marks has also been simplified to include only black, white, and a light gold (PMS 452).

"The new visual identity will assist our ongoing efforts to promote and brand the conference," stated NACC Assistant Commissioner Joshua Schroeder. "We wanted to create a suite of marks that allowed us the greatest utility and flexibility in terms of application. In addition to the ICON logo, there are three versions incorporating wordmarks which help to clearly define us as the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference."

In addtion to the four core marks, the branding suite includes championship event logos as well as conference/tournament champion badges. The championship event marks and champion badges were developed to be cohesive to the look and feel of the primary mark and to work seamlessly with other assets. There are also school-specific versions of the primary logo and champion badges for the league's 14 full-time and three affiliate member institutions.

NACCsports.org Relaunched

The announcement is accompanied by a complete redesign and relaunch of NACCsports.org, the conference's official online home. The redesign, backed by industry leader SIDEARM Sports, is the first in eight years and is just the fourth different iteration of the website since the conference was formed in 2006 as the Northern Athletics Conference.

"From a visual standpoint, the new website retains many of the characteristics from the previous design but is presented in a much more streamlined fashion," noted Schroeder. "From a functional standpoint, we are now able to take advantage of a platform with SIDEARM that is shared by 11 of our 14 member schools."

Along with the website, the new marks will be featured on conference signage, publications, awards, and apparel. The simplified nature of the logo allows for its use in a wider range of uses - especially in smaller digital applications and the retail space.
