26 Triton Student-Athletes Earn NJCAA All-Academic Status

It was another successful year in the classroom for several Triton College student-athletes as 26 individuals representing eight different sports received National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic honors for the 2021-22 academic year. The total is an increase by two compared to last year.

The Trojans baseball team led the way with eight of their players making the list. Meanwhile, the Triton softball team had the most NJCAA All-Academic First Team student-athletes among the Trojans athletic programs with all three of their of All-Academic athletes earning First Team status. Triton had seven total student-athletes on the All-Academic First Team.

"We are proud of our 26 student-athletes for achieving the highest individual academic honor given by the NJCAA," said Triton Associate Vice President of Athletics Garrick Abezetian. "Their accomplishments both in the classroom and in competition exemplify the hard work and dedication necessary in order to be successful student-athletes."

Nationally 9,916 student-athletes achieved NJCAA All-Academic honors. Student-athletes are eligible by accumulating an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2021-22 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:

NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA

NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA

NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA

Dax Meyer (Willowbrook) – Baseball – 4.00

Patrick Suemnick (Denmark HS, WI) – Men's Basketball – 4.00

Patryk Szatko (Krakow, Poland) – Men's Soccer – 4.00

Bailey Berger (Union Grove, WI) – Volleyball – 3.87
