1 President Lee called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

4.1 Swearing-in of Police Commander Alex Rojas

Trustee Mathews swears in Commander Rojas. CONGRATULATIONS!

4.2 Partner Agency Annual Report – Berk-Hill Baseball (postponed)

4.3 Beautify Berkeley Home of the Month – 5926 Chicago Avenue Home of the month award given to owner of 5926 Chicago Ave, making Berkeley proud!

Trustee Graf-Stone states team has diligently been working on compensation study almost finalized. Also working to finalize Lakeshore agreement and preparing paperwork for 5540 St. Charles Road. Also wants to alert all regarding COVID updates especially for kids.

Administrator Espiritu provides information regarding new agreement with Lakeshore Recycling. Current contract due to expire May 31 2022, new agreement will be 21% decrease in cost. Some highlights with new agreement are weekly recycling, no sticker requirement, new refuse bins being provided and yard waste pick up will be extended. Good partnership with Lakeshore and dealings with George Strom in particular who attended the meeting today. Katie Neary will be our point person. President Lee thanks everyone who worked on new agreement.

Trustee Mathews gives the floor to Chief Larem who had testing last week there were 3 candidates. Chief states there is not a manpower crisis. Chief Larem goes on to explain new camera service.

9.4 Fire and Health (Chair – Trustee Salemi; Co-Chair Trustee Perez)

Chief Larem states has hired two additional firefighter/paramedics.

9.5 Public Works and Utilities (Chair – Trustee Hammar; Co-Chair Trustee Mohammed)

Trustee Hammar reports held park district ad-hoc committee meeting.

Park District will be acting on some maintenance issues on their facilities. Trustee Hammar states half on new trees on the ground.

Public works are working on pot hole issues.

9.6 Community and Intergovernmental Relations (Chair – Trustee Perez; Co Chair Trustee Graf-Stone)

9.6.1 Trustee Liaison Report

Trustee Perez reports ready with summer events. Historical society meeting will be held this Friday under gazebo. Lions club will be bringing hearing bus Wednesday 11-3p 6/29/22.

10 Village President

10.1 5/30/22 Memorial Day Holiday – Village Offices Closed

10.2 5/30/22 Memorial Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Corner

10.3 6/7/22 Village Board Meeting cancelled

10.4 6/16/22 Village/Park District Ad-Hoc Meeting at 6:30 p.m.

10.5 6/18/22 Low-Cost Pet Vaccination Clinic from 9 a.m. to Noon (Village Hall Parking Lot)

10.6 6/21/22 Village Board Meeting at 6:30 p.m.

President Lee reports will be sending out a couple of Robo calls regarding special events in the village. One being Memorial Day ceremony he will provide agenda. Announces Berkeley Village being 98-years old, cupcakes being provided this evening. Thanks to public works for working on ball fields and ring of honor. Public works also worked on tennis courts which was very much appreciated.

11 Village Administrator

Administrator Espiritu announces 6/11/22 ribbon cutting for Blended Nutrition. He received call from Illinois Tollway and naming of the flyway which will be called the Berkeley-Elmhurst Connector.

Gilda Nelson wants to report snakes in her yard at 5718 Rose Court.

Mark Dodson states he has never seen morale in the fire department village higher and comments on the experience on the force. Good move making Tim Larem the Director of Public Safety

Angie Sevcik of 1521 Rohde is concern about the new Berkeley sign on Hawthorne heading west the view obstructed when trying to merge.
