The first leg of a journey in the way Morton College provides student services is nearing completion with an anticipated opening date for the One-Stop Center by early July.
Morton College officials plan on marking the opening of the transformational One-Stop Center with a grand celebration at a date to be determined. The One-Stop Center will house Academic Advising, Admissions and Records, Recruitment, Financial Aid, Counseling and Disability Services all in one space.
“The guiding principles of the One-Stop Center starts with our students being the top priority,” Morton College President Stan Fields said. “It will improve the visibility, accessibility and flexibility of institutional services as well as prioritizes student self-service by eliminating physical lines and the bouncing from department to department our students currently experience.”
The One-Stop Center is just the first of three phases in how Morton College is changing the way the state’s second-oldest community college provides student services.
The other two phases of this project include a new Student Union and Tutoring Center. The target date for completion of the Student Union is late September, while the Tutoring Center is slated to be done by the end of 2022.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience while we’ve been under construction,” added Marisol Velazquez, Morton College’s Associate Provost and Vice President of Student Services. “This will allow Morton College to provide an even greater level of service and support to our students.”
