GOP gubernatorial candidate Sen. Darren Bailey is questioning River Forest School District 90's gay pride walk.
“Why is it necessary for elementary kids to participate in a 'gay pride walk' and flag raising?” Bailey said. “Who thought this was a good idea? Sexualizing kids should be something we all should be against. It is not the job of schools to indoctrinate our kids with their far-Left ideology. If parents want their kids to participate in gay pride community events – that is their prerogative, but schools have no business planning and promoting these events as sanctioned school activities. What is happening here is wrong even for older kids but is especially egregious that 6-year-olds were participating in this event. As governor, I will work to stop the sexualization of our kids and focus education on actual learning.”
Bailey has a long history in education leadership. In southern Illinois, he and his wife Cindy established a Christian school, according to his website.
He also served on the North Clay Unit 25 Board of Education for 17 years. Bailey is presently a member of the Illinois State Senate's Education Committee.
According to West Cook News, Edward J. Condon earned $246,602 in the last year with River Forest School District 90.
Meanwhile, the percentage of third to eighth grade River Forest District 90 students "ready" in English language arts and math has been dropping.
Condon recently denied a Freedom of Information Act request asking for school curriculum changes amid declines in achievement measures, West Cook News reported.
