Analysis: Hinsdale administrators rank 71st in state for average pay

Administrators in Hinsdale Township High School District 86 earn an average of $136,001 per year, ranking 71st out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a West Cook News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 6 percent higher than in 2016 and 1.3 percent lower than in 2011. District administrators make 22.2 percent more than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Hinsdale School District in Dupage County enrolled 4149 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 110 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
