The Burr Ridge-based organization calling itself the Illinois House Republican Majority is heralding Republican candidates for filing for the June 28 primary.

“Republicans are fielding candidates in 90 districts and counting this cycle, providing voters a REAL choice," the Illinois House Republican Majority wrote on Facebook. "This is a 33% increase in the number of districts we competed in over the 2020 cycle and 22% more districts than in 1994 — the year Republicans took control of the House! Join our efforts.”

Early polling indicates that the state's Democrats are losing support as a result of the party's leadership issue.  According to a Tulchin Research poll, Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia) and Aurora's first Black Mayor, Richard Irvin are leading incumbent Governor J.B. Pritzker in an undisclosed Chicago suburb. Crime was at the top of the respondents' list of concerns.

Soft-on-crime policies have been blamed for a sharp increase in violent crimes, particularly in Chicago and Cook County in 2021. In addition, the areas have been ravaged by theft. Those arrested have also been convicted at a much lower rate due to selective prosecution.

Illinois House Republican Majority is an advocacy group that recruits local Republican candidates in Illinois. It recently underscored the need to “move past liberal platitudes and worn-out Democrat Party talking points if Illinois is to get serious about making safe neighborhoods for families.”

"The House Republican Majority (HRM) operates a year-round operation recruiting house candidates, supporting Republican members and candidates with communications, fundraising, outreach, and strategy needs. House Republican Leader Jim Durkin leads the House Republican Caucus, and HRM Chairman Ryan Spain and its Board of Directors lead the House Republicans’ political arm," the group says on its website.

The group says it is on a mission to "provide the infrastructure necessary for House Republican members and candidates to be successful in their political campaigns and expand the number of Republicans in the caucus," the group added.
