Village of Western Springs Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met March 7.

Present: Chair Marcia Buell; Commissioner James Maragos; Commissioner Janet Dahl; Brian Budds, Chief of Police; Susan Depner, Police Administrative Services Coordinator; Amy Eitapence, IO Solutions

1. Call to Order
Chair Buell called the meeting to order at 1:04 p.m.
2. Roll Call
Chair Marcia Buell, Commissioner James Maragos, and Commissioner Janet Dahl were present. Also present were Brian Budds, Chief of Police, Susan Depner, Police Department Administrative Services Coordinator, and Amy Eitapence, IO Solutions.
3. Approval of Meeting Minutes – February 15, 2022
MOTION: Commissioner Dahl made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 15, 2022 meeting. Commissioner Maragos seconded the motion. All present were in favor and the motion was approved by voice vote.
4. Public Comment
None.
5. Recess to Closed Session 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) - Discussion of the Appointment, Employment, Compensation, Discipline, Performance, or Dismissal of Specific Employee(s) of the Public Body
MOTION: Commissioner Maragos made a motion to adjourn to closed session. Commissioner Dahl seconded the motion. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote and the Commission adjourned to closed session at 1:05 p.m.
6. Reconvene to Open Meeting
MOTION: Commissioner Dahl made a motion to reconvene to open session. Commissioner Maragos seconded the motion. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote and the Commission reconvened to open session at 7:37 p.m.
7. Other Business
Chief Budds gave each Commissioner a copy of the Police Department 2021 Annual Report.
The Chief then discussed dates with the Commissioners to certify the initial entry-level list and the final entry-level list after preference points are submitted. It was agreed to meet March 16th to certify the initial list, with Commissioner Dahl being excused. It was agreed to meet to certify the final list on April 1st.
Chief Budds then explained that we launched a lateral police officer application process today with a two-week turn-around. The date of May 2nd was tentatively agreed upon for oral interviews for lateral candidates.
8. Adjournment
MOTION: Commissioner Maragos made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Commissioner Dahl seconded the motion. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 7:52 p.m.
