Dominican University women's basketball's assistant coach Ashley Yu has been named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) prestigious 30 Under 30 list, as announced on Monday.
Yu, a graduate and former student-athlete at Hunter College, joined DU's athletic department in November of 2020 and has been an integral piece to head coach Antonio Rivas' staff. Rivas commented, "I'm extremely happy that Ashley was nominated for the prestigious 30 Under 30 Award. I appreciate her hard work and dedication to our program and couldn't have been given to a more deserving person".
Previously, Yu played a major role in the City College of New York (CCNY) program's player development and scouting while also coordinating the Beavers' community service events and recruiting efforts.
A 2019 graduate of Hunter College, Yu was a four-year letter winner and three-time team captain for the Hawks. After going 11-16 in 2014-15, her first season with the program, Hunter improved to 18-10 by Yu's senior year in 2017-18. That season, the Hawks earned their first-ever regional ranking, finishing No. 8 in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region.
