River Forest School District 90 barred parents of children participating in Saturday youth basketball from watching games courtside.

The games, played as part of a River Forest Park District program at Roosevelt Junior High, include grammar school students ages 6-12.

A photo posted on Facebook showed parents standing on chairs outside the Roosevelt gym window to try and get a view of the games. The temperature Saturday morning was 18 degrees Farenheit.

"This is our village. Saturday afternoon while our kids play basketball, yet the parents are not allowed inside to watch," wrote an angry parent on Facebook. "A highly-funded neighborhood park district with our tax dollars hard at work.”

"It's just too unsafe here, but seemingly nowhere else?”

The River Forest Park District Board includes Lynn Libera, Cheryl Cargie, Dennis Healy, Carl Bade, Mike Grant and Michael Sletten.
