The Oak Park Health Department is keeping quiet on allegations regarding an investigation into Dr. Theresa Chapple-McGruder.
Chapple-McGruder, the director of the Oak Park Health Department, was behind the decision to cancel all extracurricular activities at Oak Park and River Forest High School.
"BREAKING: Oak Park HD @Theresa_Chapple is reportedly under investigation for her now-deleted Dec 3rd tweet in which she said she knew her child’s whole class was vaccinated because she vaccinated all of them herself,” a Twitter user posting under the name Emma Woodhouse said.
Chapple-McGruder’s ban lasted from Dec. 3-6 and was ended after parents protested at the school over the weekend.
The Oak Park Health Department did not respond to a request for comment regarding the alleged investigation.
Another Twitter user said he received a response from the Health Department confirming Chapple-McGruder was being investigated for a possible HIPAA violation.
The Village of Oak Park has not made a statement on the topic.
Chapple-McGruder is an epidemiologist who was appointed to her role with the village in April of this year.
She spoke at a District 200 Board meeting via Zoom Tuesday night defending her decision to cancel the district’s sports and other activities through the winter break.
This would have included basketball, wrestling, swimming, diving and drill teams as well as an annual Winter theatre performance, Prisms of Winter.
