‘They only care about their insane agenda:’ Dillon calls out Lyons school board

Lyons

Some parents are in an uproar at Lyons Township High School after teachers committed to a Black Lives Matter group.

The group provides left-leaning classroom materials and lesson plans.

BLM Chicago infamously apologized for looters during 2020 riots.

Parent Lindsay Dillon has been fighting left-wing extremism in Lyons Township High School  and has assisted her daughter and other students in leading anti-mask protests.

“The district does plenty of shady (expletive) and have continued on for the last two years,” she told West Cook News.

She stands in opposition to the BLM movement within the school.

“The only thing I can think of is that they're bowing down for the sake of their jobs. Nothing they're doing is ‘OK,’” she said.

Teaching for Black Lives says it aims to incorporate "the truth about the breathtaking heroism of black communities in the face of injustice," and how they can replace "Eurocentric textbooks with a curriculum that centers the intersectional identities of black people.”

The group was created by the Zinn Education Project, which provide controversial lesson plans such as "take on the role of activist-experts," or design a "slavery reparations" bill for Congress, and "The Kaepernick effect."

In contrast, when student leader Leslie Mendoza tried to start an official Turning Point USA chapter at the school she was rebuffed and allegedly removed from contention on ambiguous technicalities by which other groups were not measured.

Mendoza and others believe the school discriminates against them due to their conservatism.

The school was also accused of trying to break up a anti-mask protest where GOP gubernatorial candidate Gary Rabine spoke in late October.

Dillon noted she is disappointed in school leaders, noting recent suicides occurring locally.

“They only care about their insane agenda, Nothing else matters to them, and in the last week seven area high schoolers have committed suicide, two from (Lyons Township High School),” Dillon said.

A study recently noted that suicides have increased among young people and people of color amid continued COVID-19 restrictions.
