I. CALL TO ORDER

The Regular Board Meeting was called to order by Mayor Thompson at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers at 2350 South 25th Avenue, Broadview, IL 60155.

ROLL CALL

Upon roll call by Kevin McGrier, Village Clerk, the following answered

Present: Trustee(s) J. Miller, J. Tierney, S. Armour, P. Chao-Malave, Mayor Thompson

Absent: A. Senior

There being a quorum the meeting was called to order.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO FLAG

Everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

MOMENT OF SILENCE

Everyone joined in a moment of silence.

II. PUBLIC COMMENT(s)

III. COMMUNICATION(S) ANNOUNCED BY CLERK MCGRIER:

Cook County Clerk Karen Yarbrough Clerk certified the newly elected officials and presented them with official certificates

Trustee Miller gave an update on the Juneteenth Celebration

Clerk McGrier read the communications/announcements

IV. CONSIDERATION TO APPROVE THE FOLLOWING MINUTES:

• Minutes from the May 17, 2021 Regular Board meeting

A. DISCUSSION REGARDING PROPOSED STREET NAME CHANGE.

Discussion: Mayor Thompson gave an overview on the reasoning for the proposed name change. Trustees chimed in with their comments.

B. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH EDWIN HANCOCK ENGINEERING COMPANY FOR THE FURNISHING OF CERTAIN PROFESSIONAL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING SERVICES RELATED TO 2021 MUNICIPAL PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW, COUNTY OF COOK, STATE OF ILLINOIS.

Motion to approve by Trustee Abraham and Seconded by Trustee Tierney

Discussion: Mayor Thompson gave a brief overview and asked Director Ames to add details. Trustee Chao-Malave had questions answered by Director Ames. Trustee Miller made additional comments.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH EDWIN HANCOCK ENGINEERING COMPANY FOR THE FURNISHING OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES RELATED TO CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS TO YORK STREET FROM BEACH STREET TO EAST DEAD END AND TO 19TH -22ND AVENUE FROM ROOSEVELT ROAD TO HARVARD STREET FOR THE VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW, COUNTY OF COOK, STATE OF ILLINOIS.

D. AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, GRANTING A MAP AMENDMENT, SPECIAL USE, AND VARIANCE TO ALLOW HOUSING FORWARD TO CONSTRUCT AND OPERATE A SUPPORTIVE HOUSING UNIT AT 1014-1020 W. ROOSEVELT ROAD.

Discussion: Mayor Thompson gave a brief overview and noted that the Zoning Board did give a recommendation to move forward with the zoning component. Mayor Thompson asked Commissioner Upshaw to add details. Rich Toth representing Housing Forward gave further supporting information. Trustees had questions answered by Mayor Thompson.
