Berwyn North School District 98 Board of Education Met Dec. 17.

CALL TO ORDER
Meeting began at 6:35 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Member Mounce.
COMMUNICATIONS
A. Tax Levy Presentation
Regina Johnson, Business Manager presented the Board and community with the details of the Tax Levy. The Tax Levy is how the school district receives funds from the local property taxes.
PUBLIC COMMENT
A. Superintendent, Dr. Michelle Smith informed the Board and community about a recent opportunity to help FGM donate $500 to a local charity. Dr. Smith sent teachers a request for local charity suggestions. The top choice was Thumbuddy Special, which services special needs children. They will allocate a special needs local family to receive the donation. Thumbuddy will let Berwyn North School District 98 know when the family has received the donation.
BOARD COMMENT
A. Member Cuevas wanted to thank all teachers for their effort put forth to educate our students. Stating that parents are now more aware of the time and effort teachers devote to their children. Mrs. Cuevas wanted to make sure that teachers knew that the Board appreciates all their effort throughout this pandemic.

1. Ms. Christine Whitley submitted a FOIA request on Thursday, Decmeber 10, 2020 at 10:55 pm requesting all minutes pertaining to Board Member Robert Pabon’s attendance and voting records. FOIA completed on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10:55 am.
2. Kaza Rhan of LocalLabs submitted a FOIA request on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 6:44 pm requesting on Elected Boards and Officials. FOIA completed Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

PUBLIC COMMENT
A. Dr. Michelle Smith wanted to communicate to all the teachers and visiters to have a safe and healthy holiday season. For the staff present Ms. Smith hopes that they disconnect and fully enjoy the holidays with their families and her wish for their safe return come January.
B. Nadine Cloherty, 3rd grade teacher at Havlicek Elementary School spoke on her behalf to the Board and community to ask about the information of a previous email sent to sent by Dr. Smith in regards to the staff’s return in January.
Superintendent Smith will be sending out a communication with the information regarding to this matter.
C. Gina Parker, Physical Education teacher at Priairie Oak Elementary and NBEA President, wished everyone “Happy Holidays!” She looks forward to the new year.
