IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – AUGUST 12, 2020.
The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 12, 2020 were previously distributed to the members of the Infrastructure Committee.
I move to approve the minutes of the Infrastructure Committee Meeting of August 12, 2020.
A motion was made by Alderman Finn, seconded by Alderman Musillami and carried unanimously.
V. DISCUSSION ON THE 2020 STREET REHABILITATION PROGRAM.
Chairman Benson stated that at the last City Council meeting we approved a contract to Lindahl Brothers in the amount of $662,989.30. We included language in the contract that said we could adjust or limit the scope of the work. We are here tonight to discuss which streets we want to put into this program and the streets that we want to postpone until next year.
City Engineer Fitzgerald said that he could give his opinion on what streets could wait, but they should be done in the next couple of years. The following streets have been budgeted for this year, Pleasantdale Drive from 5th Avenue Cutoff to the Pleasantdale Court, Pleasantdale Court from Pleasantdale Drive, Crestview Road from Lorraine to Sunset, and Burr Oak Lane from the south limit to 5th Avenue Cutoff. In his opinion, Pleasantdale Drive and Pleasantdale Court can wait. Burr Oak Lane can be patched unless we have enough money in the budget to pave it. The streets that should be completed this year are Edgewood from Plainfield Road to 55th Place, Crestview from Lorraine to Sunset, and all of the miscellaneous utility patching.
Chairman Benson stated that if we do Edgewood and just go to 55th Place we could save some money. That would include all the engineering costs, right?
City Engineer Fitzgerald said no this does not include the engineering costs. If we did only part of Edgewood we could add Burr Oak Lane back to the list. So we would be postponing Pleasantdale Drive and Pleasantdale 55th Street to 55th Place. The cost to repair Pleasantdale Court and Pleasantdale Drive would be $250,000.
A motion was made by Alderman Musillami to move forward with the 2020 Street Rehabilitation Program and send it to the City Council meeting for approval, seconded by Alderman Finn and carried unanimously.
VI. OTHER COMMITTEE BUSINESS.
None.
VII. ADJOURN.
There being no further business to discuss, Alderman Musillami motioned to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Finn and carried unanimously.
Chairman Benson declared the meeting adjourned at 6:42 PM.
