The Oak Park Library is presenting a virtual event that may raise eyebrows among parents.
The library announced on Twitter on Nov. 30 that they would be presenting an event called “Drag Storytime” on Dec. 5.
“Get ready for an hour of virtual fun this Saturday!” the post read. “Drag Storytime, presented by guest stars Irregular Girl and Chanel Mercedes Benz, is a celebration with books, music, dancing, and time for questions. Best for ages 3+.”
So far, comments under the post are strongly criticizing Oak Park Library for targeting children as young as three for the event.
“Please tell me this is not a real thing. Children 3 and up?” one Twitter user commented.
“Yes this is very real and #OPAF,” another user replied. “I don’t know how I feel about the library pushing #drag on the 3+ crowd. How do the candidates for mayor feel about it?”
