Berwyn North School District 98 Board of Education met June 30.

A. FY21 Tentative Budget Presentation
Regina Johnson, Business Manager, presented to the Board and community the second draft of the 2020-2021 budget.
V. PUBLIC COMMENT
A. Ms. Loriann Volin, 6th grade teacher at Lincoln Middle School introduced herself and conveyed her gratitude to Superintendent Smith and the Board for the quick transition to remote learning. Ms. Volin expressed her concern regarding teachers coming into school buildings on Mondays for meetings and professional developments, as this would increase the chances of covid exposure and requests that the Board reconsider this decision. Ms. Volin asks that the Board take into consideration the safety and wellbeing of teachers and allow staff to continue to attend meetings and professional developments via virtual mediums.
B. Ms. Nadine Cloherty, 3rd grade teacher at Havlicek Elementary School introduced herself to the Board and community. Ms. Cloherty expressed her concern with having a new learning platform and requested training, time, and as much professional development as possible. She would greatly appreciate help and coaching in order to facilitate teacher and student transition to the new learning platform.

XI. PUBLIC COMMENT
A. Ms. Bardara Hammerand, 6th grade teacher at Lincoln Middle school introduced herself and
thanked Dr. Smith and Administrators for all their hard work with the Transition Team and NBEA teachers union. Ms. Hammerand expressed her concern with switching resources in math. She agrees with Ms. Cloherty’s request for more time and training.
B. Ms. Rosie Vass, parent of a 2nd grade student at Prairie Oak introduced herself and asked if there could be modifications made to the Dual Program, because of translating issues for parents at home. Superintendent Smith asked Ms. Vass to reach out to Francela Lopez the Director of English Learners.

Member Paul-Emile moved and was seconded by Member Arenella that the Regular Meeting of the District 98 Board of Education adjourn to Executive Session at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020 for the purpose of discussing the following items:
1. The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal
of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel public body to determine its validity. 5ILCS 120/2(c) (1).
2. Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2).
3. The purchase or lease of real property use of the public body, including meetings held purpose of discussing whether a particular parcel should be acquired. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(5)
