Cost of college went up for all students at Triton College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.8 percent for 2018-19 at Triton College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $10,096 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $370 more than the $9,726 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 24.2 percent more than residents this year, or $12,539. Their price tag grew 3.8 percent from $12,076 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 65 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 501 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.7 million and 45 students took out student loans totaling more than $181,004.

Including all undergraduates (10,529), 3,565 students used grants or scholarships totaling $15.1 million, and 437 students took out $2.1 million in federal student loans.
