Oak Park police arrested three suspects allegedly connected to looting and other acts of violence on June 1, which happened as a people protested police brutality and racial inequality in the aftermath of George Floyd's death in May.

Latoya D. Williams faces multiple burglary charges after Oak Park police alleged she was recorded on video surveillance using a metal dumbbell to smash the glass at Ecokorit Jewelry and WP in order to gain entry.

Once inside, Williams and two other suspects allegedly smashed several display cases before fleeing in a silver or metallic Jaguar with jewels that included bangle bracelets and a pearl necklace valued at $1,013, Oak Police said in their report.

The suspects allegedly alluded Forest Park police, Oak Police reported, before the vehicle was found burning in a lot at 5 Randolph. Investigators have since alleged that the vehicle is owned by Williams’ mother.

In a later report, Ahmier D. Johnson, 21, and Noah S. Troutman, 22, were taken into custody after they were allegedly observed trying to smash into a currency exchange at Harlem/Madison using a wrench and garden shears to break a glass window, Oak Police reported.

Both were arrested allegedly after brief foot chases and were charged with burglary, Oak Police reported.

Nationwide, protests have erupted after video reportedly showed now-former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin's knee on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, likely leading to his death, while three other police officers watched. In some parts of the country, protest have turned violent, including clashes with police and cases of looting and rioting.

Chauvin has since been charged with murder. The other three officers are also facing criminal charges.
