Berwyn North School District 98 Board of Education met Feb. 13.

A Special Meeting of the Board of Education Members of Berwyn North School District 98 was held Thursday, February 13, 2020, beginning at 6:30 PM in the District Office.
I. CALL TO ORDER Meeting began at 6:45 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL
Members Present: Mounce, Swade, Paul-Emile, Cuevas, and Pabon
Members Absent: Arenella and Kulis-Kearns Valeriano
In Attendance: Michelle Smith, Superintendent and Jessica Ibarra, Executive Secretary
III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the Board President Member Mounce.
IV. NEW BUSINESS
A. Superintendent Smith updated the Board on the need to set a date for an Expulsion Hearing.
V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Ms. Smith updated the Board on where Berwyn North stands with the purchase of the PTLC.
B. SuperintendentSmithexpressedherstanceontheParkDistrictsBacktoSchoolEventfor the upcoming school year.
C. SheinformedtheBoardthatduringtheCalendarCommitteemeetingtheteachersexpressed the need to reduce the number of Holiday Parties in school because it takes hours of instruction that can’t be made up.
VI. ADJOURNMENT MOTION TO EXECUTIVE SESSION
Member Cuevas moved and was seconded by Member Paul-Emile that the Special Board Meeting of the Board of Education, School District 98 adjourn to Executive Session at 6:46 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2020 for the purpose of discussing the following Items:
1. The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. However, a meeting to consider an increase in compensation to a specific employee of a public body that is subject to the Local Government Wage Increase Transparency Act may not be closed and shall be open to the public and posted held in accordance with this Act. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1).
MOTION TO RECONVENE IN REGULAR SESSION
Member Paul-Emile moved and was seconded by Member Cuevas that the Regular Meeting of the Board of Education, District 98 reconvenes from Executive Session at 9:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2020.

Member Paul-Emile moved and was seconded by Member Pabon that the Regular Meeting of the Board of Education, District 98 adjourn at 10:26 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2020.
