The River Forest Village Board granted some much-needed assistance to village residents and businesses who are dealing with setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Oak Park.com, administrators voted 5-1 to approve two executive orders by Village President Cathy Adduci. One suspends restrictions on limited hours of deliveries to businesses in the village. The other makes various operational changes, including waiving late fees and parking fees. The order also lengthens payment deadlines without penalties. Previously, business deliveries were limited to the hours between 7 a.m. and midnight.

Adduci defended the later expiration date, saying the city is doing all it can to help residents and small business owners. However, she also added that the relief will only have a slight impact on the economy.

"We're trying to help our residents," Adduci told the news agency, noting relief will have only a "minimal" impact on the budget.

"I think this is a great list that will go a long way," she said. "I've already heard from residents thanking us."
