Village of Berkeley Village Board met Dec. 3.

Also Present: Village Administrator Rudy Espiritu, Assistant to the Village Administrator Justyn Miller, Fire Chief Michael Kuryla, Public Works Superintendent Joseph Wagner, Assistant Attorney Liz Brogan and Village Attorney Greg Smith.

4 Presentations and Appointment

4.1 Fiscal Year 2019 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report – Mr. Brian LeFevre from Sikich LLP gave a presentation of the Comprehensive Annual Fiscal Report for Fiscal Year May 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019. The Village of Berkeley, Illinois received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the Fiscal Year Ended April 30, 2018. Mr. LeFevre informed the Board and guests that upon the approval of the Fiscal Year 2019 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report this evening, the Village will than submit the Fiscal Year 2019 to the Award program.

9.6.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Perez reminded the Board and guests that the Holiday Fest is on Saturday, December 7, 2019.

Berkeley School District 87 Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. Holiday Fest from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Village Board Meeting at 6:30 p.m.

President Lee thanked Administrator Espiritu and his staff for all their hard work they do on the budgets and finances. The Village of Berkeley would not be in a good financial standing if it was not for them and the Board.

11 Village Administrator – Village Administrator Espiritu informed the Board that this year the Christmas tree decorating contest will be posted on social media and the Village’s website. They will be asking those who want to be nominated to submit a picture to the Village. Once the pictures are received, they will put it on social media and have people vote. This will give the community an opportunity to get involve and join in on the festivities. The Board agreed with the Christmas tree decorating contest voting change.

12 Village Attorney – Attorney Smith reported that the Village now owns 1812 N. Taft Ave. Attorney Smith’s office worked with Village Staff on the No Cash Bid Acquisition Program through Cook County which their office has a lot of experience with. Village Administrator Espiritu gave them the file and the Attorney’s office finalized it. Many thanks to Village Administrator Espiritu and his staff for all their work. Village Administrator Espiritu got to go to circuit court in the last two months and provide very important testimony. The Attorney’s office is continuing to work on the acquisition that is left.
