GOTTLIEB MEMORIAL HOSPITAL: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening

Stomachpain

Gottlieb Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Sept. 23.

Registration and an 8-hour fast are required to participate in this event.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a potentially

life-threatening condition, but it can be detected with

a simple test!

Loyola’s vascular surgery team and the AAA Outreach

Organization will host a free AAA ultrasound screening on

October 19.

Join Loyola’s Center for Aortic Disease team to receive a

free AAA ultrasound screening.

The test only takes a few minutes and is painless.

Appointments are available to individuals over 60 and to

men over 55 who have a family history of aneurysms. Men

65-75 who have ever smoked are especially encouraged to

participate.

If an aneurysm is found early, it can be treated to prevent

rupture and death.

Risk factors include history of smoking, high blood pressure/cholesterol, family history of AAA, hardening of arteries and gender (males at highest risk).

To register, call 888-871-3801.
