The data shows that the 16 released offenders living in the Melrose Park zip code were men. The median age of the parolees was 39. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2018, and the oldest was a 71-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2017.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Christopher Rivera. He was convicted of a crime against a person in 2010, when he was 20 years old. He is now 30.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
