Q2 2018 Recap: Parolees in Chicago convicted of financial crimes or fraud

There were 60 offenders convicted of financial crimes or fraud released on parole in Chicago during the second quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the West Cook News.

The data shows that 54 men and six women were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for financial crimes or fraud, one is a veteran, and the median age is 38. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 73-year-old man sentenced in 2017.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Kelly Long. He was convicted of a financial crime or fraud in 2011 when he was 35 years old. He is now 42.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the 50 cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders in Q2 2018 who were convicted of financial crimes or fraud.
