Q3 2018 parolees recap: who was paroled in Chicago?

There were 1,709 offenders released on parole during the third quarter that live in Chicago zip codes, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by West Cook News.

The data shows that 1,617 men and 92 women were released in Chicago. Of the parolees, 15 are veterans, and the median age is 36. The youngest parolee is a 19-year-old man sentenced for crimes involving one or more weapons in 2018, and the oldest is a 73-year-old man sentenced for crimes involving one or more weapons in 2007.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest is Anthony Habener. He was convicted of homicide in 1988 when he was 27 years old. He is now 59.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the 50 cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders in the third quarter.
