Former state school employee David Allard, who retired in January 2017, saved $13,560 toward a pension over 7 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Allard would collect as much as $166,116, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes West Cook News.

After 4 years of retirement, Allard will have already received $14,606 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
