City of Northlake City Council met April 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, PADILLA, WERBA, GONZALEZ, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI

OTHERS PRESENT: NANCY PAULETTO, CITY CLERK CAROL LAMPARD, FINANCE DIRECTOR MARK STERK, ATTORNEY NORM NISSEN, CHIEF OF POLICE DALE ROBERTS, SUPERINTENDENT PUBLIC WORKS

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the regular meeting held on April 1, 2019. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held on April 1, 2019; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor. The motion carried.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE APRIL 1, 2019 CITY COUNCIL MEETING CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to appoint Jay Militello to the Police Pension Board to replace the remainder of Richard Haack’s term; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPOINT JAY MILITELLO TO THE POLICE PENSION BOARD TO REPLACE THE REMAINDER OF RICHARD HAACK’S TERM CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to pay the warrants and vouchers if and when the funds become available; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO PAY THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin mentioned the ribbon cutting for the new construction at West Leyden will take place at May 7 at 6:00 p.m.; there will be a speaker talking about the state’s financial situation at the Best Western in Hillside on April 29 at 9:00 a.m.; Alderman Straube noted the Kid’s Bingo event went well; Mayor Sherwin noted we received reimbursement for the off-ramp design for the tollway.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve a proposal for City Hall and the Police Department to crack-fill, sealcoat, and restripe the lots; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE A PROPOSAL FOR CITY HALL AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CRACK-FILL, SEALCOAT AND RESTRIPE THE LOTS CARRIED

Alderman Straube made a motion to approve a proposal for Public Works Parking Lot Replacement – Phase I; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE A PROPOSAL FOR PUBLIC WORKS PARKING LOT REPLACEMENT – PHASE I CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion for approval of Motor Fuel Tax Documentation Review No. 53; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance O-07-2019; An Ordinance Regulating the Installation and Operation of Wind and Solar Energy Systems and Amending Title 8 of the Northlake City Code; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE ORDINANCE O-07-2019; AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF WIND AND SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEMS AND AMENDING TITLE 8 OF THE NORTHLAKE CITY CODE CARRIED

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to approve Resolution R-12-2019; A Resolution of the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois Approving a Fixed Asset Policy; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

NAYS: NONE

MOTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R-12-2019; A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS APPROVING A FIXED ASSET POLICY CARRIED

Resident Kurt Aldinger suggested the City recognize longtime residents as part of celebrating the City of Northlake’s 70th Anniversary. Mayor Sherwin agreed this was a good idea and stated he would ask for “nominations” in the next city newsletter.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
