Village of Berkeley Village Board met March 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Lee called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Present: Trustees Hammar, Salemi, Grenier, Graf-Stone, and Washington

Absent: Trustee Perez and Clerk Rivera

Also present: Assistant Village Administrator Brandiss Martin, Fire Chief Michael Kuryla, Police Chief Timothy Larem, Public Works Superintendent Joe Wagner, and Village Attorney Gregory Smith and Assistant Attorney Liz Brogan

4.1 Village of Berkeley Partner Agency Annual Reports

4.1 Village of Berkeley Partner Agency Annual Reports

4.1.1 Berkeley Community Garden Club – Representatives, Kathleen Chmura and Melissa Heflin, of the Garden Club presented their financial report on behalf of the Berkeley Community Garden Club and provided the Board with an overview of the activities and work they’ve done in 2018. The Garden Club is requesting and needs garbage to be picked up.

Requesting a robo-call for the Spring Feast and Harvest Feast that would be helpful.

4.1.2 Berkeley Senior Social Club – Maryanne Melone, Treasurer, presented the Berkeley Senior Social Club financial report. The Senior Club in 1971 had a membership of 60 – 80, however there is only 18 members at this time (4 are Berkeley residents). Anita Arroyo, Executive Assistant, has assisted them with creating a flyer to help increase membership, but received no response. They will try to increase membership with the flyer that will be placed at Village Hall and various events.

1.1.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Washington informed the Board that the “Berkeley Matters” is now “Berkeley Connects,” a recommendation from BDI with regard to consistent branding.

9.3 Police and Property Maintenance (Chair – Trustee Salemi; Co-Chair Trustee Washington)

9.4 Fire and Health (Chair – Trustee Grenier; Co-Chair Trustee Perez)

9.5 Public Works and Utilities (Chair – Trustee Hammar; Co-Chair Trustee Grenier

9.5.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Hammar informed the Board that the water meter instillations continues and the electric control panel for the pump for the flood project is being installed. Superintendent Wagner informed the Board that ComEd will be on site to activate electric panel and the connection next to the generator.

9.6 Community and Intergovernmental Relations (Chair – Trustee Perez; Co- Chair Trustee Graf-Stone)

9.6.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Graf-Stone informed the Board that she and Trustee Perez have been working on the line up for Music in the Park. As recommended, “Music in the Park” will be held on Thursday evenings, 6:30 – 8:30. Plans are being made for “Family Fun Day.”

10 Village President

10.1 President’s Report

10.1.1 03/09/2019 & 03/16/2019 – BYBA Registrations @ Village Hall 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

10.1.2 03/13/2019 – Neighborhood Watch Meeting @ 6:30 p.m.

– Proviso Municipal League Dinner @ 6 p.m. 10.1.3 03/19/2019 – Board Meeting @ 6:30 p.m.

11 Acting Village Administrator – Assistant Village Administrator Martin reminds us that the Budget is scheduled to be approved on April 2nd. If we cancel the meeting, we would need to move the approving date.

12 Village Attorney – No report

13 Public Comments and Questions

Dan O’Connell asked about the status of 5440 St. Charles Road. He and other residents would like the owner to bring the property up to Code. President Lee responded accordingly.

Bonnie Routen thanks the Police Department for their assistance with the Church of Christ. She also would like to invite the Board to the “Boys and Girls Club Dinner Dance of West Cook County.
