City of Countryside City Council met February 27.

Here is the minutes as provided by the council:

A. CALL TO ORDER – Pledge of Allegiance led by Tucker Offenbacher.


     The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM.

B. ROLL CALL

     City Clerk Burdett called the Roll of those physically present as follows:

          Present: Mayor McDermott, Alderman Mikolyzk, Alderman Jasinski, Alderman Von Drasek, Alderman Musillami, Alderman Benson, Alderman Finn, City Clerk Burdett, Treasurer Stancik

          Also Present: City Administrator Paul, Deputy Police Chief Novak, City Attorney Peck, City Engineer Fitzgerald, Finance Director Schutter, Deputy Clerk Peterson

C. OMNIBUS AGENDA

     1. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 13, 2019 were previously distributed to the members of the City Council. Mayor McDermott asked if there were any corrections to be made to said Minutes. There were none.

     2. The Statement of Bills was submitted for payment through February 27, 2019: $1,548,513.65.

          I move to approve the minutes of the City Council Meeting of February 13, 2019 and to approve the Statement of Bills through February 27, 2019 in the amount of $1,548,513.65.

             A motion was made by Alderman Musillami, seconded by Alderman Jasinski, that this matter be APPROVED as presented. The motion carried by the following vote:

             Aye: 6 Alderman Von Drasek, Alderman Jasinski, Alderman Mikolyzk, Alderman Musillami, Alderman Benson, Alderman Finn

             Nay: 0

D. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC - NONE

E. MAYOR’S REPORT

     1. Mayor McDermott presented the 2019 Countryside 4th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade Queen and her Court and recognized Parade the Grand Marshal Fire Chief Buckley and other Court members. Mayor McDermott and Parade Chairman, Alderman Finn, presented individual satin sashes, potted shamrock planters and gift certificates to the Queen and her Court. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2019. The City of Countryside raises funds which are donated to specific causes – this year it is the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and the Illinois Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. To date there are 60 entries in the Parade; the City has raised over $30,000 – the greatest amount ever raised; many thanks to Gail Paul, Sharon Peterson, Sue Dignin and the entire City Staff for all their dedication and hard work. Chief Buckley was presented with a separate sash to be worn at the Parade; he was also awarded with the same gifts. Alderman Finn announced the Lead Sponsor for the 3rd year in a row is JACK PHELAN DODGE, who donated $5,000. Many thanks to all the sponsors; their contributions are appreciated.

     Mayor McDermott recognized the Parade Princess, Maeve Offenbacher, who also received the sash, the shamrock and a gift certificate to Andy’s Frozen Custard. She delighted the audience by performing an Irish Jig to the accompaniment of City Engineer Fitzgerald on his mandolin.

     The Queen of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade is Colleen Sullivan of LaGrange. She is a Junior at LTHS and volunteers at the Food Depository. She received a tri-color flag and sash, along with a glittering crown presented by Ald. Finn; photos were taken. Ald. Finn announced the Court members – and presented each with the same gifts – Danielle Dahill, Emily Walker and Ashley Walker. Last year’s Queen, Megan O’Neill, was not able to be present tonight but she wrote a letter to the new Queen including a special Irish blessing. After more photos were taken, the audience enjoyed listening to the strains of a bagpipe performance by Danielle’s father, Mr. Dahill, after which time the Queen and her Court left the City Hall Chambers – to be seen again on Saturday, March 9 beginning at 1 p.m.

     Council members and the audience in general wished a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MAYOR SEAN MCDERMOTT who celebrated his birthday last week.

           a. Treasurer Stancik thanked Ald. Von Drasek for Chairing the Finance Committee in her absence.

           b. Treasurer Stancik sought consideration to enter into a Biller Agreement with Invoice Cloud to process online credit card payments subject to final attorney review. A motion was made by Alderman Benson, seconded by Alderman Von Drasek, that this matter be APPROVED. The motion carried by the following vote:

                Aye: 6 Alderman Von Drasek, Alderman Jasinski, Alderman Mikolyzk, Alderman Musillami, Alderman Benson, Alderman Finn

     1. City Administrator Gail Paul sought consideration of an emergency purchase order / invoice to Visocnik Contracting in the amount of $13,000, which was for necessary IT support for the wireless replacement project in conjunction with the Public Works facility.

            A motion was made by Alderman Jasinski, seconded by Alderman Mikolyzk, that this matter be APPROVED. The motion carried by the following vote:
