Village of Schiller Park Committee of the Whole met November 15

Village of Schiller Park Committee of the Whole met Nov. 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

CALL TO ORDER: 

President Nick Caiafa called the meeting to order at 6:10 P.M.

ROLL CALL: 

Upon a call of the roll by the Village Clerk, the following Elected Officials were: Present: President Nick Caiafa, Trustees: Moses Diaz, Russell Klug, Joan Golembiewski, Tom Deegan, Robert Lima (arrived at 6:18 P.M.), Catherine Gorzynski, and Village Clerk Rosa Jos 

Absent: None

President Caiafa declared a quorum present. Also present: Corporate Counsel Joe Montana, Village Manager Brad Townsend

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

1. Trustee Golembiewski moved, seconded by Trustee Gorzynski that the MINUTES of the Committee of the Whole Meeting of November 1, 2018 be approved. Upon roll call the following voted: Aye: Trustees: Diaz, Klug, Golembiewski, Deegan, Lima, and Gorzynski 

Absent: None 

Nay: None 

President Caiafa declared the motion carried.

IV. PERSONS WISHING TO BE HEARD: 

No one to be heard.

BUSINESS: 

The following business discussions took place: 

1. Historical Commission curator consultant - more information will be gathered to present to the board on this subject. 

2. Village Finances; Village Professional Accountant suggests we look at our finances and adjust the tax levy accordingly. 

3. The Village has concerns about parking spaces and the accessibility of our Fire Department. 

4. Installing a sound system and additional projector for the Community Center board room. 

5. The Village is exploring different available options for seniors to purchase lock boxes. 

6. All driveway footing and construction permits.

7. The Village is looking into the possibility of having to replace the outdated phone system. 

8. Tollway update in regards to the gas stations at the Schiller Park Oasis. 

9. Zoning/PUD of the Oasis and others. 

10. The CDA and Forest Preserve updates will be discussed in executive session.

VI. EXECUTIVE SESSION: 

Trustee Lima moved, seconded by Trustee Diaz to adjourn into Executive Session in compliance with the Open Meetings Act, pursuant to Sec. 2-C-5 Purchase or Lease of Real Property, and Sec. 2-C-2 Salary Schedules, Sec 2-C-1 Employment Matters, 2-C 21 Discussion of Minutes of Meetings Closed under the Open Meeting Act. 

Upon roll call the following voted: 

Aye: Trustees: Diaz, Klug, Golembiewski, Deegan, Lima, and Gorzynski 

Absent: None 

Nay: None 

President Caiafa declared the motion carried.

The President and Board of Trustees adjourned to Closed Session at 6:39 P.M.

RECONVENE: 

At 7:07 P.M. following the Closed Session, the President reconvened the public portion of the Meeting.

Upon a call of the roll by the Village Clerk, the following Elected Officials were:

None

President Caiafa declared a quorum present.

Also present: Corporate Counsel Joe Montana, Village Manager Brad Townsend

VII. ADJOURNMENT:

With no further business to conduct, it was moved by Trustee Golembiewski, seconded by Trustee Diaz, that the Committee of the Whole Meeting be adjourned. Upon roll call the following voted: Aye: Trustees: Diaz, Klug, Deegan, Golembiewski, Lima, and Gorzynski Absent: None Nay: None President Caiafa declared the motion carried and this Committee of the whole Meeting was adjourned at 7:07 P.M.
