City of Northlake Youth Commission met Dec. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

ATTENDANCE: Sheila Morgan, Sharon Budzon, John Morgan, Veronica Budzon, Mauricio Lopez

ABSENT: Rebecca Morgan

GUESTS:

Robert Budzon, Francine Patti, Trisha Patti

MEETING:

The minutes of the, October 24, 2018 meeting were read. A motion was made by John to accept the minutes. Veronica seconded the motion. All were in favor.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. KIDS' THANKSGIVING CRAFT NIGHT - 11/14/18 - Everyone should arrive by 5:00pm to set up for the crafts and the meeting will take place at 5:30pm.

BOOFEST / HAUNTED TRAIL-RECAP. Sheila & John suggested moving the fence to prevent people from walking where they should not. Bob suggested a sign that shows where to exit and Sheila suggested a sign stating the timing policy. Inform people that the rides cannot run past 8pm. We will close the line around 7:30 in order to accomplish this. Remaining in line at this point carries the risk of not getting on if things run late. Bob suggested that each ride supervisor and ride loaders carry flashlights. The ride supervisors could flash 3 times to signal the driver to stop if there is a problem. The loaders can light up the entry to each hayride so people know where to step. Sheila said that new low-in-the-dark markers are needed for next year. None of our extra volunteers, including Laylani Ruiz from West Leyden High School, showed up. Sheila ended up watching her grandson so that her daughter, Rebecca and friend Drew could be zombies in the cemetery scene. Francine said that she brought up to City Council that more help is needed from City Staff for the Trail. Next year Public Works will help more to set up and take down the Trail. With few volunteers we had a lot of raffle cards left over. Sharon suggested that we use them as grand prizes at Bingo events. Veronica seconded the motion. All were in favor.

3. BUDGET 2019 - The budget for 2019 is being reviewed by the City Council.

4. WINTERFEST - 12/8/18 - 11AM-3PM (We close our crafts at 1pm). We should arrive by 10am to set up.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. JANUARY 9, 2019 KIDS' EVENT - Sharon made a motion to run a BINGO night since the prior 3 events will have been crafts. Veronica seconded the motion. All were in favor. It is Sharon's turn to buy prizes. She booked it with Liz and sent a flier to go in the Northlake City News.

There was no other business discussed. Sharon moved for adjournment, seconded by Mauricio. All were in favor. Youth Commission Chairperson, Sheila Morgan, adjourned the meeting at 6:00pm.
