City of Northlake Youth Commission met October 10.
Here is the minutes provided by the commission:
The minutes of the, September 26, 2018 meeting were read. A motion was made by John to accept the minutes with one correction that Veronica was in attendance. Veronica seconded the motion. All were in favor.
Old Business:
1. Kids' Halloween Craft Night 10/10/18 - 6-8PM - This event was a great success! We had 22 adults and 30 kids attend. Each child left with a treat bag, all the crafts they could build, and a raffle prize.
2. Boofest / Haunted Trail Brainstorming - Sheila & John went shopping & bought several great mechanical props for the Trail, masks, and fake blood. Sharon reported that Adrianna Pilolla will again be doing our make-up. Sharon will not be able to stand and work the line with her injuries, so she will be sitting in a scene as a witch or gypsy dining on a creepy meal. We have received a couple of calls from volunteers, Veronica has a friend who should be joining us with his own Plague Doctor costume/mask. Her sister, Gabby should be coming with a friend to work the line.
3. Budget 2019 - Sheila will be submitting the budget for 2019 for the next City Council meeting.
New Business:
1. Kids' Thanksgiving Craft Night - 11/14/18
2, Winterfest - 12/8/18 - 11am-3pm (We Close At 1pm)
3. January 9, 2019 Kids' Event - Still Seeking A Theme For This Craft Night.
4. New Commissioner - Mauricio Lopez is a new resident to our City. He not only has a new house, but a new baby with his wife Marlene. As a Realtor for RE/MAX Partners, he is very interested in immersing himself in our community. As a new father, he has a vested interest in the future of our children's programs. We were all in favor of adding him to our commission. Sheila will make a presentation for approval at the upcoming City Council meeting.
There was no other business discussed. Sharon moved for adjournment, seconded by John. All were in favor. Youth Commission Chairperson, Sheila Morgan, adjourned the meeting at 6:00pm. Next Meeting: October 24, 2018 at 6:30 pm. This will take place at the Sandy Vasquez Community Center.
