MOTION CARRIED

9.2 Finance and Economic Development (Chair – Trustee Washington; CoChair Trustee Salemi)

9.2.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Washington gave an update on

Economic Development Plan. Coming up are interviews with various stakeholders throughout the Village on September 26, facilitated by the Economic Development Consultant.

9.3 Police and Property Maintenance (Chair – Trustee Salemi; Co-Chair Trustee Washington)

9.3.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Salemi informed the Board that the Police Department is looking for Part-Time Police Officers (Preferably certified).

9.4 Fire and Health (Chair – Trustee Grenier; Co-Chair Trustee Perez)

9.4.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Grenier informed the Board that everything is going well with the Fire Department. Trustee Grenier led a discussion with the Board regarding “Rental vs Owner-occupied residences.” A resident asked Trustee Grenier if the Village has an ordinance on the amounts or percentages of Rental vs Owner-occupied. The reason this is being brought up is because many people are purchasing single family homes to rent, however many homes are not being maintained and disagreements/fights occur between renter and owner. There is a program “Crime Free Housing” that could help protect the Village of Berkeley and assist our Police Department, as well as a Rental Inspection Program that could help with life-safety. President Lee suggested to the Board to bring it back for discussion and bring data of how many renters we possibly could have in town and how much time we have for rental properties and lack of code enforcement. Village Attorney Gregory Smith will bring some information that is used in other communities. The Board will continue the discussion in upcoming Board meetings.

9.5 Public Works and Utilities (Chair – Trustee Hammar; Co-Chair Trustee Grenier)

9.5.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Hammar informed the Board that the piping and pavement for the flood program is moving along. Trustee Grenier thanks Public Works for all their good and hard work.

9.6 Community and Intergovernmental Relations (Chair – Trustee Perez; CoChair Trustee Graf-Stone)

9.6.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Perez informed the Board that he is going to meet with the Events committee to discuss if some changes are possible for next year events.
