According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 4,384 students during the year. That equates to 53.5 percent of the 8,190 students enrolled.
Of the 3,296 in-school suspensions, 2,175 were given to boys and 1,121 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.
The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 3,187 incidents. There were 87 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 3,208 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
Of the 1,088 out-of-school suspensions, 710 were given to boys and 378 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.
The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 554 incidents. There were 312 incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For 314 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
