The River Forest Youth Softball 10U team was runner up last week in the Illinois Little League State Tournament held in South Elgin.
River Forest reached the 10u State Finals by winning their district by a deciding margin. They advanced through the field of 10 teams at the State Tournament to reach the Semi-Finals. A 1-0 victory over Peru secured River Forest’s position in the Championship Game thanks to a spectacular 1-hitter thrown by Ava Solberg.
River Forest fell to an experienced Beardstown team by a score of 9-5 in the Championship Game. Per Manager Lou Leonardi “I was proud of our girls as they were able to put together this performance after only playing together for about three weeks. Some of these teams at State play together for months.” Overall, River Forest had a 7-1 record in the Little League Tournament which was spearheaded by great pitching, solid defense and timely hitting.
