In our Member Spotlight we want you to meet Linda Sokol Francis of Brookfield Financial Plans Inc. as she shares more about her company, community and commitment to our region! WSCCI: Tell us about your business and who you serve? How long have you been in business? How long as a member of the Chamber?
LINDA: I started Brookfield Financial Plans in 1975. At that time, there were few financial advisors for the low income and middleclass residents of Brookfield. I am now licensed in 42 states, have over 300 million under management and serve 1400 households.
WSCCI: What called you to your work?
LINDA: I have been doing taxes and accouting since I was 17 years old in Brookfield, Chicago and Berwyn. I saw the need for financial advisors when I worked on the tax returns and saw high interest deductions and little, if any, savings.
WSCCI: Do you have a personal or professional motto?
LINDA: I organized the Rotary Club fo Brookfield in 1999. Our professional motto has alwasy been the same as the Rotary Organization: SERVICE ABOVE SELF
WSCCI: Name your greatest success or what you are most proud of, in your business experience?
LINDA: I am a life time member of Who's Who and one of 5 people inducted into the Waddell & Reed Hall of Fame. I have been honored with the West Suburban Chamber Millennium Award and Woman of the Year award. I have also been awarded the Illinois Business Woman of the Year by the State of Illinois and by the Brookfield Professional Women's Organization.
WSCCI: What is your favorite part about working and/or living in Brookfield and the surrounding communities?
LINDA: I live in Western Springs and my office is in Brookfield. I lived in Brookfield for 27 years and my heart and office are still there.
WSCCI: Favorite Chamber Event or Initiative?
LINDA: My favorite event of the Chamber is the Christmas Party.
WSCCI: Before we end, tell us a something else you'd like us to know about Brookfield Financial Plans Inc.
LINDA: I have 5 faithful employees, some of which have been with me for over 40 years. It takes a team to make a successful business.
