Studentdoinghomework300

West Suburban Chamber Of Commerce issued the following announcement on July 17.

BOOST stands for "Bold Opportunities for Outstanding Students Today and Tomorrow." The program connects alumni and friends of Nazareth who own or are in businesses to sponsor an unpaid internship program to offer students experience with jobs. This internship program offers hands on experience while helping to build a strong workforce in our region.

Meet Pierce, a rising senior at Nazareth Academy, who has been building his skill base and contributing his talents to the WSCCI and it's members. We decided to ask Pierce some pressing questions about his internship and what a busy high school senior does in his spare time!

WSCCI - Why did you choose to apply to the BOOST program?

Pierce - I applied to the BOOST program because I was interested in doing an internship over the summer but all the ones I looked at very rigid and not very flexible to the commitments already in my calendar. I thought BOOST would be a great opportunity to get a similar experience within my time constraints as it was very flexible to set up when I would be working.

WSCCI - What are couple of things you have learned while working at the WSCCI?

Pierce - While working at WSCCI I have learned about the roles that a Chamber of Commerce plays in a community and how it benefits local businesses.

WSCCI - What are the biggest skills learned from BOOST & WSCCI you see going forward that will help you in future endeavors?

Pierce - While working at the WSCCI I have learned how to compose business correspondence and how to utilize and analyze data relative to user interaction.

WSCCI - What are your future endeavors?

Pierce - I am currently in the college application process and plan to attend a four-year university to study business and economics next fall.

WSCCI - Rumor has it you are in a band. Tell us a little bit about it and your role?

Pierce - I am the lead guitarist in a band. We are currently in the process of recording our first album that I co-wrote with our drummer. We hope to release it in mid-late August.
