How much has Schiller Park SD 81 overspent over the past 10 years?

Schiller Park School District 81 accumulated $24.51 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a West Cook News analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, Schiller Park SD 81 reported 55.6 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 115 percent. The resulting deficit grew by 946.2 percent from 2008 to 2017.
